David luther & Kelly Dougherty

David Luther & Kelly Dougherty BIO

"The influence of bands like U2 has been ingrained in me since I was young, the passion of the music and vocals, and the deep cutting lyrics continue to help shape the way I write and sing" David

David Luther is a Kansas City-based music artist known for his soulful blend of Americana and indie-folk, blues-infused rock, and heartfelt singer-songwriter. Rooted in the rich musical landscape of the Midwest, Luther's music often explores themes of resilience, the search for connection, and the beauty of everyday life. With a warm and evocative voice, raw and powerful delivery, he crafts songs that resonate with sincerity and a deep sense of place. His genuine songwriting resonates deeply, and his performances forge a strong connection, solidifying his position as a compelling voice in the Americana music community.

Kelly Dougherty is a beloved Irish Folk Singer known from the band Kelly and her self-titled album Dair.  In 2022, Kelly, along with Kadesh Flow, was featured in the Kansas City Irish Fest Mix Tape with an incredible Carswell & Hope rendition of  Black Is The Color.  With strong ties to the Kansas City Irish Community, Kelly has been a fixture of the Kansas City Irish Fest since its inception.

David Luther & Kelly Dougherty have been singing together well before the April 2025 release of David's new Nashville-recorded studio album Who You Are, which featured Kelly on the song Wrecking Bay as well as I'm Going Home, written by the pair.

David & Kelly will be performing at The Kansas City Irish Fest on Sunday September 6th at 12:30 on the Park Stage.  They will be joined by guitarist Bradley McKellip and drummer/percussionist Brandon Graves .  In addition to songs from the new album and previously released EP's they will be performing songs from U2, Dougie MacLean, and The Pogues.
